Atlanta Man Ameen Jones accused of selling other people's cars
Police say a man has been selling other people's cars right out of their driveways to recycling companies for scrap metal cash.
Atlanta police say 17-year old Ameen Jones tried to sell two cars that were in Marilyn Morris' driveway.
Officials say Jones drives through neighborhoods looking for junk cars and then calls recycling companies claiming to be the owner. He sells them and gets paid once they're towed.
The recycling company called police on Thursday.
"It was very good of them to notify us of this. They saw his patte in the past and when they were contacted by him again they immediately realized that something wasn't right with this and they contacted us," said Atlanta Police Officer
Jones was arrested near Morris' home. She still can't believe someone would try and sell her vehicles.
"They work but I still don't have the money to have them fixed," said Morris. "I know everybody has hard times but being greedy don't help you…Bad as I need some money, if anyone was going to sell them, it would be me."
Police say that Jones was able to sell cars without a title because you don't need one when the vehicle is older than 12 years.
Jones is now facing felony charges.
