Army Reserve Soldier Marcus McDonald Drowns at Allatoona

A soldier in the Army Reserve drowned in Lake Allatoona Saturday afteoon.

A spokesperson with the Department of Natural Resources said 28-year-old Marcus McDonald of Decatur disappeared shortly after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Officials said McDonald's body was recovered by a dive team about two and a half hours later in about eight feet of water.

DNR said McDonald was at the lake with his family and was swimming near the Army recreation area when he went under.
