Armed Robbery Suspect Shot, Killed By Officer in Marietta

MARIETTA, Ga. -- An armed robbery suspect was shot to death by a Marietta police officer Tuesday moing, according to the Marietta Police Department.

The confrontation sprang from an attempted robbery at the Autumn View apartment complex on Franklin Road, Marietta police spokeswoman Jennifer Murphy said. She said three armed men ambushed a couple and forced them into their apartment around 12:30 a.m.

When police arrived, a Marietta police officer told one of the men to put down his weapon, but the man refused, Murphy said. The officer then shot and killed the suspect, Murphy said.

The other two suspects were taken into police custody, Murphy said.

The officer who shot the man was placed on administrative leave while police investigate the shooting.
