The driver of a vehicle crash that killed four University of Georgia students has emerged from a coma, her friends said late Tuesday.

Agnes Kim, 21, had been unresponsive for over a month since being critically injured in the April 27 crash in Oconee County. On May 12, Kim was moved from Athens Regional Medical Center to Atlanta’s Shepherd Center, where her recovery continues.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. on Highway 15, near Watkinsville, about 14 miles south of Athens. According to the Oconee County Sheriff's Office, five female students from the University of Georgia were in a Toyota Camry driven by Kim. They were headed northbound when they crossed the center line and collided with another vehicle. Three of the students died at the scene. A fourth later died at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Killed in the crash were Kayla Canedo, 19, of Alpharetta; Brittany Feldman, 20, of Alpharetta; Christina Semeria, 19, of Milton; and Halle Scott, 19, of Dunwoody. Kim was severely injured in the crash and suffered brain and pelvic injuries.
