6-year-old dies from pellet-gun wound

Peachtree City police said a 6-year-old girl died after being shot in the neck with a pellet rifle.

According to a news release, police responded to a home on Teal Vista in the Planterra Ridge subdivision around noon Friday and found the girl with an injury to her throat from a pellet rifle.

The Peachtree City Fire Department took the girl to the Piedmont Fayetteville Hospital.  Police said the girl was unconscious and in very critical condition upon arrival.


The girl died at the hospital.


Police described the shooting as an accident, and said out of respect for the girl's family, no further information will be released.
