6 charged with killing Norcross teen Nicholas Jackson

Police said the killing of a Gwinnett County 15-year-old did not appear to be gang related.

The victim, Nicholas Jackson, was a freshman at Norcross High School. He was at his home on Autrey Street in Norcross when several gunmen broke in.

”They just broke in and went straight to his room, Jackson’s sister, Nikia, said.

After he was shot, she said she called 911 and began performing CPR. Police said Jackson died on the way to the hospital.

Nicholas Jackson, 15-years-old, was killed during a home invasion in Norcross on Thursday, February 2.

Norcross Police Chief Warren Summers said officers are still looking for a motive.

”It seemed so senseless, Nikia Jackson said. ”I don’t know why they did it.

She was able to give officers a description of the van the shooters took off in. Officers pulled it over a couple of blocks away.

”A couple of the individuals in the van apparently tried to run. They were apprehended, along with other individuals in the van, Summers said.

Crime tape was still lying on the ground Friday moing on Autry Street in Norcross in front of the home where a home invasion killed a Norcross high school freshman. Six men were jailed early Friday.

Six people were taken into police custody. Police have secured warrants for Anthony Lumpkin, 32, Rico West, 19, Eddie Lewis Green, 46, Jason Dozier, 36, Michael Davis, 23, and Timothy Lamar Johnson, 34. Police said the man are from College Park, Atlanta and the Vine City community. Each faces felony murder and burglary charges. Police did not believe there were any outstanding suspects.

Police told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh they continue to search through the van. They have loacted several hand guns and are working with forensics to see if the weapons are linked to the killing.

Jackson’s grandmother, Sherrie Reid, said her grandson had a bright future ahead.

”He's a football player for Norcross High School, and he was planning on going to Alabama State College, Reid said.

Family members are still coming to grips with the loss.

”He was the best brother anybody could have, and it’s sad it happened this way, Nikia Jackson said.
