34-year-old Beverly Haynie Accused Of Stabbing Self, Lying

GAINESVILLE, Ga. - A 34-year-old woman who claimed she was stabbed in the stomach last week was charged with falsely reporting a crime after sheriff's officials say she actually stabbed herself.

Hall County Sheriff's Col. Jeff Strickland said Wednesday investigators charged Beverly Revonda Haynie with the false report of a crime and making false statements.

Haynie told deputies that a stranger stabbed her in the stomach when she opened her door on Dec. 15. But investigators said she later told authorities the wound was self-inflicted.

Haynie told the Gainesville Times that she never told authorities she stabbed herself.

She is at the Hall County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
