3 Atlanta Men Charged in Attack Aboard MARTA Train
MARTA police said Jarquez Scott, left and his brother Zantavious Sanches Scott, right, were arrested in connection to attacks on two Delta Airlines employees aboard a MARTA train on April 16, 2011.

ATLANTA -- Three people were arrested in connection with the April 16 attack of two Delta Air Lines employees on a MARTA train, a MARTA police confirmed Monday.

MARTA Police Chief Wanda Dunham said Zantavious Sanchez Scott, 20, and Jarquez Scott, 19, both of Atlanta, are being held at the Fulton County Jail in connection with the incident. A 16-year-old male, whose name is not being released because of his age, is being held at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in Atlanta.

MARTA police said they have also obtained arrest warrants for at least two other suspects who live in Atlanta; a 19-year-old adult male and a 14-year-old male juvenile.

”We are continuing our investigation into this unprovoked and senseless act, said Dunham.

A man who witnessed the attack spoke exclusively with GA Daily News reporter Erica Byfield.

"We were intimidated. Everyone was terrified. People were trying to run, but there was nowhere to run," the man, who requested anonymity, told Byfield.

Byfield requested a police report from MARTA and leaed that the victims were Delta Airlines employees.

The witness said up to 30 people, mostly teens, boarded the southbound train at the Gaett Station in Downtown Atlanta on the night of the attack and began hollering and screaming.

According to the police report, one of the victims had a soda can smashed in his face and his wallet stolen, while the other was punched repeatedly in his face.

The teens were chanting "B F P L," the witness said.

"I don't know if that's a gang," the witness said.

MARTA police interviewed the victims and launched an investigation into the incident.

The witness told Byfield he saw the teens exit the train at the Oakland City stop.

"For people to have to witness, that it is ridiculous," he said.
