20-Year-Old Jessika Ann Howell Arrested for Multiple Crimes

ATHENS - [watch] A 20-year-old woman from Atlanta is facing numerous charges after a traffic stop on Ruth Drive in Athens Tuesday afteoon. The stop was made because of a non-functioning tail light. A check of the tag revealed the vehicle had no insurance and was stolen.

A search of the vehicle revealed drugs of several types, drug paraphealia and goods believed to have been stolen including a laptop, GPS unit and bags of clothing with store tags still on them.

Jessika Ann Howell is charged with Theft by Receiving Motor Vehicle, Theft by Receiving, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of Certain Crimes, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I/II, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule III/IV/V, Possession of Marijuana, Drugs not in Original Container, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Tools – Crime, Giving False Information, No Proof of Insurance, Removing/Affixing Plate with Intent to Conceal/Misrepresent, Driving without a Valid License, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.   

FROM ATHENS-CLARKE COUNTY POLICE:

Around 1730 December 28 an officer saw a vehicle with only one functioning tail light.  A computer check of the tag revealed there was no insurance on the vehicle.  A traffic stop was made on Ruth Dr.  Contact was made with the driver who initially gave a false name and date of birth.  Investigation revealed the vehicle, a 1995 Honda, had been reported stolen.  JESSIKA ANN HOWELL was then arrested.  A search of the vehicle incident to arrest revealed plastic bags with the coers removed, a small bag with a substance that tested positive for methamphetamine, digital scales with white residue, a bag containing several unidentified pills, an open bottle of alcoholic beverage, a glass pipe with residue, mirror and razor blades, brass knuckles, and cell phones.  In the trunk a lap top, GPS unit, and bags of clothing with store tags were found. HOWELL, 20, Chamblee Tucker Rd, Atlanta, was charged with Theft by Receiving Motor Vehicle, Theft by Receiving, Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of Certain Crimes, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I/II, Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule III/IV/V, Possession of Marijuana, Drugs not in Original Container, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Tools – Crime, Giving False Information, No Proof of Insurance, Removing/Affixing Plate with Intent to Conceal/Misrepresent, Driving without a Valid License, and Open Container in a Motor Vehicle.  (10-1700)
