2 deputies Jeff Wilson and Michael Norris shot in Monroe County

Monroe County Deputies Jeff Wilson (L) and Michael Norris (R) were shot responding to a call.

Two Monroe County deputies were shot responding to a call on Haley Lane in Bolingbroke.

According to authorities, Deputy Jeff Wilson and Deputy Michael Norris were dispatched at 5:45 p.m. to a home in the 100 block of Haley Lane in response to a man attempting suicide.

The deputies were told that the subject was in possession of a gun. When Norris and Wilson arrived on the scene, they exchanged gunfire with the suspect. Both deputies were shot by the suspect and transported to the Medical Center of Central Georgia for treatment.

The suspect's name is not being released at this time but he was taken into custody. The extent of the injuries the deputies received is not being released. Authorities said the incident is under investigation.
