‘Car surfing’ teen Alex Desalis dies after falling off Jeep, getting run over

Alex Desalis, 16, died Sunday night from his injuries.

Paulding County police say a 16-year-old boy died late Sunday after being run over while ”car surfing,.

According to The Georgia State Patrol accident report, Alex Desalis was sitting on the hood of a 2009 Jeep Wrangler around 2:40 p.m. Saturday when he fell off and was partially run over on Ferguson Place. Alex was first taken to WellStar Paulding Hospital before being flown to Grady Memorial Hospital in critical condition, the GSP report showed.

Late Sunday, Alex died from his injuries, his family said. The 16-year-old driver of the Jeep was not injured.

Funeral arrangements were pending for Alex, who was in the 11th grade at North Paulding High School.

A fund-raising page was created on the You Caring website to assist the family with funeral costs.
