‘Cannibal killer’ dies in Wales hotel room after being tasered by police
A CANNIBAL killer who died after being tasered by police was found chewing his victim"s face in a gruesome Hannibal Lecter-style attack.
Matthew Williams, 34, was discovered in a hotel room eating his 22-year-old victim"s eyeball after security staff burst in when he refused to let them in.
Witnesses told The Mirror the man "went Hannibal Lecter” during the horrific attack.
Staff at the hotel in Wales called police who tasered the man — who had just been released from prison — knocking him to the floor.
He became unresponsive and died minutes later.
The woman — who had just met Williams — died of her horrific injuries in the room at the hotel in Argoed, a village in Caerphilly.
Jill Edwards, who lives nearby, told The Mirror that Williams was "eating this girl to death.”
"He murdered her so police stopped him — good on them,” she said.
Williams had just served half a five-year prison sentence for a violent attack on his partner.
He was staying at the Sirhowy Arms Hotel, which operates as a bail hostel, and had taken his victim back there for a drink.
Police and forensic officers were at the scene of the deaths trying to determine how the man and woman died.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission has been called in to oversee the inquiry because a taser was used, The Mirror says.
