Worst-ever April Fools' prank locks down neighborhood
So yesterday's best April Fools' Day pranks were the harmless ones, not the kind that involved calling a police department on the other side of the country to tell them that you're shooting up a high school.
A 30-year-old Virginia man is facing felony charges after his long-distance bad idea sent three police departments, the Califoia Highway Patrol, a helicopter, paramedics, firefighters and "an Active Shooter Team" to Roseville (CA) High School in search of a shooter.
Police say the suspected prankster will foot the bill for the wasted time and resources. "It's never a good idea to prank call a police department," Roseville Sgt. Darin Defreece said. "We will find you."
Can these hoaxes be prevented?
