World War G: LG smartphone PR stunt leaves 20 injured

A SMARTPHONE promotional event named after a zombie movie went horribly wrong after people tued up with BB guns and knives, leaving 20 people injured.

LG Electronics was promoting its new G2 smartphones in Seoul, South Korea, by releasing coupons for the phones inside helium balloons, and called its event \"World War G\", a play on the name of the Hollywood blockbuster.

But competitors showed up with BB guns, knives on sticks and even a sharpened staff in attempts to pop the balloons, Korea Timesreports.

LG said in a statement that similar events across South Korea had been cancelled, due to safety conces.
