A veterinarian rushed to far-flung Bunawan town in Agusan del Sur province to check the one-tonne crocodile after it flipped over with a bloated stomach Sunday in its cage in an eco-tourism park.

Lolong, believed to be more than 50 years old, fell ill after swallowing a nylon cord about three weeks ago and was left with nonstop diarrhoea. An autopsy is expected Monday to determine the cause of death.
