Authorities have released the name of a 54-year-old Cherokee County man who was found dead Sunday moing in a few inches of water in a kiddie swimming pool.

Jay Baker, spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office, identified the man as Dominac Saverina Pedante, a resident of Eagle Watch subdivision.

About 11 a.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a possible drowning at Pedante's home, Baker said.

They found the victim dead in about six inches of water in a small child's swimming pool, the spokesman said.

Pedante had parked his car next to the swimming pool and may have tripped as he got out of the vehicle, Baker said.

The door to his car was still open, leading authorities to suspect that he might have suffered some type of medical emergency that caused him to fall into the pool, he said.

Pedante's body was taken to the GBI crime lab for analysis, Baker said.

No further details were immediately available.
