A woman was found dead in an elevator 30 days after power was cut to the building, it has been revealed.

Authorities in China revealed yesterday that maintenance workers tued off the electricity on January 30 in the residential block after going to check a problem.

However, they didn"t check if anyone was in the elevator and on March 1 the woman"s body was found inside by maintenance workers who were there to repair it.

Police said the victim was a 43-year old woman who lived in the building in Xi"an, Shaanxi Province, on her own.

The maintenance crew has since been charged with gross negligence in a case of involuntary manslaughter.
