Why thousands of redheads got together

THE world's largest gathering of redheads got together when more than 5000 people with red and ginger hair came together in the Netherlands town of Breda.

Called Roodharigendag in Dutch, the festival is in its eighth year and is the largest to date.

The two-day festival is a gathering of people with natural red hair, but also focused on art related to the colour red.

Activities during the festival are lectures, workshops and demonstrations which are aimed specifically at red-haired people.

The redheads broke the Guinness Book of Records with a photo opportunity of 1,672 people accompanied by redhead Ronald McDonald, who was the sponsor of the event.
