Weinstein finds another savvy way to piss off Hollywood
Harvey Weinstein knows how to bend rules for his gain

The Oscars don't allow nominees to campaign directly to its Academy members, but the Weinstein Company found a way.

Hell-bent on getting Meryl Streep a Best Actress Oscar for "The Iron Lady," Harvey's clever marketers worked through The Hollywood Reporter to send a 'Vote for Meryl' promotional email to the publication's subscription base, which is lousy with Academy voters.

Some Weinstein rivals complained (anonymously, of course; they're no dummies) about the loophole to The Wrap, but it'll get nowhere.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences said it "allows for media entities to send such things to valid subscribers," thus no rules were broken.

What do you think of the movie mogul’s loophole-exploiting ploy?
