WATCH: Illegal mosque obliterated in HUGE explosion after bomb stash uncovered

More than 1kg of explosives were found at the unregistered Muslim prayer hall near the city of Samara, in Russia.

The bomb disposal team deemed it too dangerous to remove the bombs – so they just detonated them.

A video of the controlled explosion shows a considerable part of the building being destroyed in the blast.

A police dog uncovered the stash at the property – which wasn"t registered as an official house of worship.

The house was used for gatherings of Salafis – who are followers of an ultra-conservative movement within Sunni Islam.

Russian intelligence officers detained 53 young men – at least one of whom was accused of promoting Islamic State online.

A source within the FSB – Russia"s intelligence service – claimed a number of other members of the group are fighting with ISIS in Syria.

More explosives, handguns, grenades and ammo were reportedly discovered in a number of house raids triggered by the find.

The federal highway M5 – which passes right in front of the house – was blocked in both directions and people were evacuated from all nearby buildings while the controlled explosion was carried out.
