Twitter clamps down on trolls with ‘Tweet quality filter’

Twitter finally seems to be clamping down on trolls with a ‘quality filter' which could block offensive and threatening Tweets sent via the social network.

The feature automatically weeds out threats of violence, abusive language, and Tweets sent from troll accounts which have just been created.

It's currently only available to Verified Users (users with a tick by their name, a status commonly granted to celebrities).

It was noticed by blogger Anil Dash, and since confirmed by Twitter staff.

Twitter says that the filter automatically removes, ‘All Tweets from your notifications timeline that contain threats, offensive or abuse language, duplicate content, or are sent from suspicious accounts.'
