Tribunal votes to fire special-ed teacher David Vollmer accused of molestation
Clayton County special education teacher David Vollmer, accused of molesting and abusing his students, got a chance to defend himself before a tribunal.

A Clayton County tribunal voted Monday to fire a middle school teacher accused of molesting and abusing severely disabled students.

Adamson Middle School teacher David Vollmer has spent a week fighting for his job. At an employee panel hearing, a paraprofessional claimed she witnessed him constantly abusing students.

Monique Hall testified Vollmer tickled students near their private parts, stuck his hands down a student's pants, bent a student’s fingers back and slammed a student down in a chair. She said she was speaking up for nonverbal students.

Vollmer tried to explain each incident, telling panel members that they were taken out of context or plain lies told by Hall, someone he considered a substandard paraprofessional.

But the panel didn’t buy Vollmer’s story. The school board will now make the final decision regarding his job status.
