The zoom on Nikon’s Coolpix P900 camera is so powerful you can see the MOON

How powerful is an 83x optical zoom lens?

Answer: so powerful you can actually see the moon moving while standing on the surface of the Earth.

Photographers have been going wild with Nikon's Coolpix P900, which comes armed with a ludicrous, insane, over-the-top 83x zoom lens built in.

One video shows the photographer zooming in on on the moon (which is barely visible in the initial shot) so closely you can see movement.

Naturally, Reddit has exploded with fury at the suggestion that the moon is actually moving (it's the Earth), but it's still a pretty wild demonstration of the power of the camera.

Other demo vids include this howlingly insane zoom out from a plane flying at 35,000 feet.
