Tara Reid and Ian Ziering back for more Sharknado antics in inevitable sequel

Brace yourselves – the sequel to unlikely TV movie hit Sharknado is coming, and Tara Reid will be on board.

The American Pie actress tued-Celebrity Big Brother housemate – who livened up the original film with her ability to look shocked when faced with a spiral of man-eating sharks – has signed up to do, we expect, much the same thing in follow-up Sharknado 2: The Second One.

Meanwhile her original co-star Ian Ziering is also set to retu for the new film, which will basically follow a similar ‘shark-toado' plotline, only with the action transferred to New York from Los Angeles.

All of which will no doubt lead to scenes of sharks munching their way through the Big Apple's landmarks in a cavalcade of slightly ropey special effects.

‘We're thrilled to be able to bring back the talent that made Sharknado a hit,' said Paul Bales, Chief Operating Officer of makers The Asylum.

‘Can lightning strike twice? I don't know, but it's a scientific fact that you're more likely to be killed by lightning than by a shark. This film will have lightning and sharks, so that's got to count for something.'

The original Sharknado became a social media sensation when it debuted on the Syfy channel last summer.
