Henry County Police are searching for a man who is accused of trying to rape an elderly woman in her home on Monday.

Investigators say it happened on June 14 around 1:15 p.m. at a home on Clark Drive in Ellenwood. They say the 85-year-old victim reported that a black man had come to her home, knocked on the front door, and asked if she needed lawn service. They say she said no, and the man asked for a drink of water.

Police say the victim closed the door and went to get a bottle of water, and when she retued to the door, the man was armed with a knife. They say he then forced his way into the victim’s home, and pushed her onto a couch in an attempt to have sex with her.

According to investigators, the man fled the scene when he couldn’t remove the victim’s clothing.

The suspect is described as a black man in his early 20s with a very dark complexion. They say he was clean shaven, between 5’6 and 5’8 tall, and had a stocky build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt with white lettering on the front, black pants and black sneakers.

The victim told investigators that the man appeared to be missing a front tooth or had a gap in his teeth.

A sketch was released of the suspect. Anyone with information about him or his whereabouts is asked to call Henry County Police at (770) 957-9121 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-8477.

Even anonymous callers who provide information to Crime Stoppers can receive up to a $2,000 reward
