Successful investment banker Thomas Hughes, 29, leaps to his death from luxury New York apartment after returning from Bahamas holiday
A successful young investment banker left a grisly scene for investigators after jumping to his death from an upscale New York apartment.
Thomas J Hughes, 29, originally from Westchester County, New York, is thought to have thrown himself from the 24th floor of the 31-story Ocean Luxury Residences in lower Manhattan.
Colleagues at Moelis & Company, a boutique investment bank based on Park Avenue, were ‘deeply saddened’ after he apparently leaped 200ft onto a railing and suffered fatal injuries on Thursday moing.

Mr Hughes, who was educated at Northweste University in Illinois and used to work for UBS, was remembered as 'talented’ and a 'positive force'.
A spokeswoman for Moelis and Company said: ‘We are saddened by the news of Tom's death and send our sincere condolences to his family and friends at this very sad time.
According to his Facebook page he checked in the trendy Surf Lodge in Montauk last summer and also visited Miami beach.
Among his likes are men’s clothing retailer Brooks Brothers, Harper’s Magazine and Bret Easton Ellis, who wrote ‘American Psycho’, the gory satire of 80s Wall St bankers.
Mr Hughes also posted about having dinner at the three Michelin Star restaurant Per Se with his family.
Hours after his death his brother Joseph posted a touching photo on his Facebook page - showing the two together when they were younger.
Friday's tributes to the young banker followed shock on Thursday moing as details about the horrific scene in lower Manhattan emerged.
Body parts were scattered in the street after a Honda CRV was either hit or narrowly missed during the 10.40am incident.
An employee at a nearby parking garage was sent home after seeing the man's body explode on impact and having blood splattered on his shirt.

Witness Mario Mroczkowski said that the body was decapitated after hitting a guard rail for a road that leads to a busy city highway, according theNew York Daily News.
'I got close, but when I looked, all I saw were body parts ... guts everywhere,' he said.
Body parts and blood were found under the CRV, which stopped at the scene.
Tourists on an open-air bus took out their cell phones to take pictures of the incident, according to nearby workers.
One-bedroom apartments at Ocean Luxury Residences, which has views of the Statue of Liberty and New York Habor, have previously sold for more than $1million, according to Zillow.
Mr Hughes had reportedly just retued from a vacation in the Bahamas but tried to kill himself earlier in the day by slitting his wrists, according to the New York Post.
The police said that no criminality is expected in the case, which is still under investigation.
Mr Hughes is thought to be the 12th person this year who worked in the financial world to take their own life.
The previous death was on March 12 when 28-year-old Kenneth Bellando was found on the sidewalk outside his six-story Manhattan apartment building.
