Stepfather caught repeatedly throwing three-year-old in pool until she drowns

These are the last moments of a three-year-old girl who was drowned by her stepfather.

The heavyset man, who has not been named, is caught repeatedly throwing his stepdaughter into a swimming pool at the hotel in the city of Morelia, in the south-west Mexican state of Michoacan.

The girl is seen floundering in the water and at one point he holds her under as she gasps for air.

The mother was reportedly sleeping in her room at the time.

After throwing her in several times he leaves and then retus, tossing her fully-clothed into the empty pool again, bizarrely throwing a safety ring into the water but the youngster is too weak to grab it.

The child eventually drowns and the toddler was reportedly put in the family car.

The alarm was raised when her mother realised something was wrong and called the police.

The man has been arrested and charged with murder.
