Seven people arrested in suspected Cherokee County drug ring

The Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad arrested several people believed to be part of a drug trafficking operation in the Woodstock area.

On January 6, CMANS agents were contacted by Cherokee Sheriff's Office deputies who had arrested 39-year-old Jimmy Swancey of Canton, on outstanding burglary warrants.

When Swancey was searched, deputies found he had a large amount of methamphetamine on him.

The CMANS investigation of Swancey led to his place of employment, a mechanic shop on Industrial Drive in Woodstock.

Agents searched the business early January 7 and found over a pound of suspected meth and around half a pound of suspected cocaine, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's office.

Victor Perez Valle, 28, Jose De Jesus Lopez-Benitez, 25, and Jonathan Scott, 30, all of Acworth, were arrested in relation to the activities at the mechanic shop.

After questioning those arrested at the mechanic shop, on January 8, agents went to a Cobb County motel room and seized over 13 pounds of suspected methamphetamine.

The next day, agents searched an apartment at Waldan Pond Apartments in Woodstock. There they found methamphetamine, a .45 caliber handgun, and approximately $33,000 in cash.

Arrested at the apartment were Shawna Rogers, 22, of Acworth, and 26 year olds Marc Lefevre and Aaron Boyd, both of Canton.

The total value for the drugs seized over the four day period is $266,500.
