Sandy Springs outages, closures; hard hit by storms

Sandy Springs reports its City Hall is on a 10 a.m. delayed opening Friday. It lost power during Thursday night's storms and it has not been restored yet. Non-essential personnel are asked to contact their department heads. 

The power outage also means that municipal court in Sandy Springs will be closed Friday. Those with court appearances are asked to call next week to receive their new court date.
 
Numerous traffic lights remained off during the Friday moing rush-hour drive along Roswell Road. In particular, at Roswell and Northridge roads, traffic lights only started functioning again about 8 a.m. An hour before then, police officer directed traffic and prior to that drivers used their own discretion.

Fortunately there were accidents during the early moing hours.

Meanwhile, many businesses remained without electricity. Some, like a local Dunkin' Donuts, rely heavily on the early moing business and can see Friday's outage hitting their bottomline hard.

"It's definitely going to hurt us. It's a big day of the week," said Stephen Attard, of Dunkin' Donuts. "It's Friday and, obviously, this is out prime time. So, It's gonna hurt, but we'll wait and … see what happens."

Here are some major roads in the area that are still closed because of the storm damage:

- Dalyrmple Road between Brandon Mill Road and Dunhill Terrace
-The intersection of Heards Ferry Rd and Mt. Veon Highway
-Eastbound lane of Abeathy Road between Sentry Hill Trail and Glenridge Drive
-Duncourtney Drive between Westserhall and Earslton Drive
-700 Riverside Drive
-4939 Northside Drive
-5254 Powers Ferry and Spalding
-West of Glenridge

Sandy Springs also has a number of smaller roads blocked by trees and debris. Motorists are asked to use extreme caution
