A Russian woman has struck a blow for feminism and proved that the fairer sex can outdo even the most tasteless male car fanatics, with a customized Mercedes CLS 350 covered bumper to bumper in Swarovski crystals.

Swarovski-covered Mercedes have been shown off at car shows before – Paris Hilton was rumoured to be interested in one3 – but this car was pictured parked on the streets of London.

The owner, thought to be a young Russian woman, posted a picture of the car to Instagram alongside the hashtags #blingbling #mercedes #swarovski #crystals #crystalcar #knightsbridge #harrods and the message ‘im not an arab guy lol".

She claims that the customisation job took two months, but, surprisingly, has chosen not to tell the entire world how much it cost.

The Mercedes caused a stir yesterday when it was parked outside The Levin Hotel on Basil Street, near Harrods in Knightsbridge.

Passersby stopped to have a closer look at the 155mph car, which is British registered and has a residents" parking permit.

Harald Duttine, manager of The Levin, said: ‘We have seen a lot of unusual cars like Ferraris parked outside but I think this one has got the most attention."

‘It belongs to a young lady and if you have the cash why not do it? It looks good and fun."
