A lover having sex on a flight of stairs had to be rescued after getting her head stuck between some banister railings.

The 46-year-old, from Lipetsk in Russia, said she wanted to ‘spice things up" with her boyfriend when the unfortunate accident happened.

A neighbor called police after finding the woman naked and on her knees in a stairwell, unable to free herself, Pronews48.ru reports.

She told police she had consensual sex with her partner, who had left the scene by the time officers and ambulance staff had arrived to assist her.

Emergency worker Alexei Dotsenko said: ‘In all my time working as a rescuer, I don"t recall any incident like this one."

Earlier this year, the web was abuzz with the apparent news that a man in Sweden had died after trying to have sex with a nest of hoets.

In 2008, a vicar claimed he got a potato got stuck up his om after he fell on to the vegetable while hanging curtains in the nude.
