Russia claims condoms are behind the HIV epidemic

A new Kremlin-backed study has claimed CONDOMS are the main cause of HIV in Russia.

Research Scientist in Russia suggested that the best way to stop the spread of the disease is to be in a \"heterosexual family – and only engage in straight sex.

The claims come from the Russian Institute for Strategic Research at a meeting held to discuss HIV rates in the country.

Scientist Igor Beloborodov, a co-author of the study, said condoms could breed the infection further. \"The contraceptive industry is is interested in selling their products and encouraging underage people to engage in sex,\" he said, according to The Moscow Times.

His advise to people trying to avoid contracting the HIV virus is to \"be in a heterosexual family where both partners are loyal to each other.\"

The Russian ministry of health reported that 93,000 new cases have been reported in the past year and an estimated two million Russians will be infected by 2019

It has been suggested the rising rates may be related to anti-LGBT laws and lack of sex education.

Russia also has the most intravenous drug users in the world.
