PRINCE William and wife Kate have appeared at the front of St Mary's Hospital in London with their newbo son.
William described the experience as \"very emotional\" and \"very special\".
\"I'll remind him of his tardiness when he's a bit older,\" he added, joking \"he has her looks, thankfully.\"
An earlier brief statement from Kensington Palace reads: \"Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge will be discharged this evening from St Mary's Hospital, Paddington. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their son will travel home to Kensington Palace. Their Royal Highnesses would like to reiterate their thanks to the hospital for the care and treatment they have all received.\"
Crowds of joualists and onlookers camped outside London's St Mary's Hospital are eagerly anticipating the baby's first public appearance.
Visiting his grandson for the first time, Prince Charles said the baby is \"marvelous\" and told reporters that they will see him \"in a minute\". Prince Charles and Camilla came to visit their grandson at 5.30 pm local time (1.30am AEST).
Dozens or hospital staff were brought out the front of the Lindo wing moments before he arrived in a jaguar.
The first in line to the throne had said earlier he couldn't wait to meet the third in line to the throne. \"Have you had a long wait?,\" he asked hospital staff and media standing by the entrance.
Their arrival was met with euphoric rock-starscreams from onlookers. Charles and Camilla were clearly delighted at being able to visit their grandchild and the reception they received as they smiled broadly and waved to the crowd
