JASPER COUNTY, Ga. - A Powder Springs man is hoping he's bagged what will be a record size gator.

Craig Prewett, his father, and two friends, caught the massive gator Saturday at Lake Eufaulain in south Georgia.

Prewett brought the gator to Shady Dale, Ga., where the gator was placed in a freezer.

According to Prewett, the gator measured at 13-feet-2-inches long, just short of the state record of 13-feet-7 inches.

The monster catch weighed in at 840 pounds.

Prewett says he will have the animal mounted.

A local taxidermist will create the gator mount after a DNR biologist measured it against the state record.
