A tourist has died after she fell 15ft from a bridge while trying to take a selfie.

Sylwia Rajchel, 23, was on holiday in Seville, Spain, when she tried to take a photo of herself on the famous Puente de Triana bridge.

But the medical student, from Lublin in easte Poland, slipped while balancing on the ledge of the bridge and fell off.

‘Going to Spain was a dream come true for my daughter," her mother, Beadeta, 44, told MailOnline.

‘She had taught herself the language and was hoping to work there in the future after finishing her studies.

She was a beautiful, smiling girl who had her whole life ahead of her.

‘It"s hard to believe what"s happened, that I will never see Sylwia again.

‘That I won"t hug her and will never be able to tell her how much I love her and how proud I was of her."

Medics said they managed to revive Ms Rajchel at the scene after she went into cardiac arrest, but she died soon after arriving at the Hospital of Traumatology.

A spokesman for the city called the incident ‘tragic" and said officials were looking at ways to make that area of the river safer.

The Triana Bridge, which was built in the 19th century and is surrounded by bars, restaurants and clubs, is a popular location for tourists to Seville.
