Police: Deceased baby had meth in her system, mom Jazmen Hazelrigs arrested
Police arrested a mother whose 4-month-old baby was found dead with methamphetamine in her system.
The Coweta County sheriff told reporters all three of Jazmen Hazelrigs’ children tested positive for the drug.
Corona obtained the booking report for the 22-year-old, but could not get the incident report due to allegations of child abuse throughout it. Hazelrigs is in the Coweta County Jail for the incident that happened at her Newnan home on Labor Day.
”I think this is kind of a new one for all of us to find a 4-month-old with meth in their system, said Sheriff Mike Yeager.

”EMS had come in and they had begun CPR and taking care of the child, but the child died, Yeager said.
Her mother is now booked in the Coweta County Jail on three felony counts of child cruelty and possession of methamphetamine.
”We actually found some residue of suspected methamphetamine on the bed where the child was found, Yeager said.
Hazelrigs’ two other children, a 4-year-old boy and 2-year-old girl, were also in the home that afteoon.
”The mother plus the three children, including the deceased infant, all tested positive for methamphetamine, Yeager said.
The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office public information officer told Corona over the phone that Department of Family and Children's Services was involved with the family.
Records show Hazelrigs had prior arrests with the Newnan and Senoia police departments in 2012 and 2013. Hazelrigs is in jail in lieu of $38,850 bond.
Yeager said the medical examiner has yet to release the baby’s cause of death. It could impact the charges Hazelrigs will face.
