Eight years after his historic election Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is preparing to leave office.

ATLANTA, Ga. - Eight years after his historic election Georgia Goveor Sonny Perdue is preparing to leave office. The two-term Republican goveor and First Lady Mary Perdue, sat down with FOX 5's Deidra Dukes at the goveor's mansion Tuesday moing.

The couple reflected on the goveor's time in office. The goveor says he believes Georgians have benefited from a more streamlined govement that provides better services under his leadership.

 

Perdue and his wife say they will miss serving Georgia residents and cherish the friendships they've made along the way.

"We'll miss the people, obviously the people here, the state, we will miss the staff that's worked so hard, the friendships and the fellowships that we've made, known we have lifelong friends here all over the state," said Goveor Perdue
