Pakistani cleric gives away abandoned babies on TV in ratings war
Aamir Liaquat Hussain

There are apparently some crazy television ratings wars going on in Pakistan during Ramadan, because cleric Aamir Liaquat Hussain is literally giving away babies on his TV show to remain competitive. \"We have lots of babies that are just abandoned, left in the garbage or other dirty places,\" said Muhammad Ramzan Chhipa, who runs the Chhipa Welfare Association. He teamed with Hussain to give away babies to two sets of childless couples on live TV.

Hussain has been criticized for this kind of sensationalism before, but we're thinking maybe he was inspired by Oprah giving away cars — you get a baby, and you get a baby, and everyone gets a baby! [Source]
