Oprah Winfrey asks former Glee star Charice Pempengco if she’s considering a sex change

OPRAH Winfrey has asked former Glee star Charice Pempengco (aka Sunshine Corazon) whether she has considered undergoing gender reassignment surgery.

The 22-year-old singer, who came out as a lesbian in 2013, reportedly addressed the issue on Winfrey’s Where Are They Now? during which the media mogul asked the singer point blank about a possible sex change.

(In a promo for the show, Winfrey asks, “Were you thinking about transitioning to become a male?”)

Winfrey’s bizarre question seems to have been prompted purely because the singer has changed her appearance (she cut her hair! She’s changed her style!) since she first came to notice as a teenage singing sensation and videos of her singing gaered more than 15 million views on YouTube.

She appeared on Winfrey’s show in 2010 with the release of her first studio album Charice, and was heralded by the mogul as “the most talented girl in the world.”

Her popularity arose further after joining the cast of Glee during its second season, where she played the role of exchange student Sunshine Corazon.

Charice, who now sports a blonde buzz cut, came out last year during an interview with talk show host Boy Abunda on The Buzz.

“Yes, I am a tomboy,” she said, using Filipino slang for lesbian. “I don’t know what’s the problem with that. Because for me, there isn’t a problem with that. Now, I’d like to ask for forgiveness to those who aren’t able to understand. I just want to say thank you personally to all my fans, to all the people who are still supporting me, who are still there for me, and honestly I am very, very happy.”
