Ohio woman says she crashed car because she was praying

Forget tiredness, alcohol or texting.

One woman says the reason she crashed her car was because she was praying at the wheel.

Police initially believed that Marilyn Perry, 63, had been using her mobile phone when she collided with Pamela Beckham, 50, in downtown Bellevue, Ohio.

But Perry told officers that she had been praying to God to help her with personal problems she was having at the time.

Mrs Beckham suffered a broken neck in the accident and her husband Darl said he didn’t believe Perry’s explanation that she was praying.

‘I don’t believe that for a second, because church-going people are better people than that,’ he told Fox 8.

‘For one, they would have made some sort of attempt to at least see if she was okay, or something; they never have’.

In spite of her claims, Perry promised to enter a substance abuse treatment program.
