Ohio State marching band instructor Stewart Kitchen is charged with raping and kidnapping student
A drum major instructor for the Ohio State University marching band has been arrested over an alleged assault that occurred earlier this month.
Stewart Kitchen, 28, was charged with rape and kidnapping after allegedly holding an OSU student against her will and forcing her to have sex, court documents state.
Kitchen invited the student to have drinks with him on April 15, then brought her back to his University District home, according to court records.
The Columbus Dispatch reports court documents stated the woman pleaded several times for him to take her home but Kitchen refused, and eventually forced her to have sex with him.
Kitchen, who was hired by the band last year as an instructor, has been placed on administrative leave by the university.
'The university is deeply conceed to lea of criminal allegations against one of our employees of kidnapping and sexual assault,' the school said in a statement.
'Upon being informed of these allegations by the Columbus Division of Police on April 23, the university moved quickly to place the employee on administrative leave and launched its own inteal investigation in accordance with university policy.'
Kitchen is himself a former OSU student, who was head drum major in 2006 and 2007, and eventually retued to the school as a staff member at the university's School of Music.
He was featured in local media earlier this year after he auctioned off two pieces of marching band memorabilia, his OSU drum major breastplate and hat, to pay for his mother's cancer treatments.

Explosive: The OSU marching band, known for pop-culture referencing animated formations during half-time shows, has also had a spate of sexual assault reports
The music program at OSU already faced scrutiny, stemming from the 'sexualized culture' that had reportedly flourished under former band director Jonathan Waters, who was fired in 2014.
The university reported that at least three sexual assaults have occurred within the ranks of the school's band since 2011.
The program even caught the attention of the US Department of Education, which reviewed the university's handling of sexual assault reports and now requires regular updates.
