New York man Tyrelle Shaw wanted over attacks on Asian women blogged about his infatuation

TYRELLE Shaw was infatuated with Asian women. He couldn’t let go of the idea that one would marry him and they would have children together.

But after being rebuffed hundreds of times, the 25-year-old artist threatened to do something drastic.

“I’ll give all Asian women a legitimate reason to hate me,” he wrote in a blog titled ‘Rejected Too Many Times and posted just days before a series of brutal, bizarre attacks on Asian women in and around New York’s Chinatown district.

Mr Shaw called it “The Nose Game”: it involved smashing Asian women in the face with a bag packed with a blunt object.

“Every Asian woman by herself must be hit in the face,” Mr wrote. “I may even take a photo before hitting them. The reason is because I don’t think Asian women like me.”

In the first attack, a 35-year-old woman was struck in the face in Chinatown. On the same day, a 29-year-old woman on Park Avenue was attacked in the same way.

Two days later, a third woman was struck in the face and on Monday a fourth woman was approached and shown a vulgar message in Chinese about women.

In one attack, police said the assailant told the victim: “All Asian girls don’t talk to me,” before swinging at her.

Police have identified Mr Shaw as the man responsible, according to the New York Times, though his whereabouts are unknown.

A hunt for Mr Shaw was launched after his family reported his increasingly bizarre behaviour.

On his blog, Mr Shaw described his love of Asian women, talked about how he would attack them and appeared to leave a number of suicide notes.

In a post dated June 7, he wrote: “I’ve been rejected by women my entire life.

“I never understood why, but whenever I stopped to woo I always ended up getting the same excuse every single time. ‘Sorry I have a Boyfriend’ or ‘Sorry I’m in a rush’.

“Some Women even ignored me completely. It got really bad. This weekend I decided to talk to over 150 Asian Women, which ended horribly.

“I’ve been rejected so much I feel absolutely numb.”

He said he would start a “strategic plan” of “using violence instead of sex” to give Asian woman “a legitimate reason to hate me”.

On June 17, he appeared to confess to a number of attacks.

“In less than 350 days, I talked to nearly 1500 Asian women and none of them took time out of their day to say ‘hello’. I became furious. I never agreed with violence, but I knew the only way I could overcome that sense of rejection would start by assaulting the women that carelessly rejected me.”

He then said he was going to end his life, a life that up to that point appeared to be quite successful.

Online, he wrote that he studied on New York’s upper eastside — he was a former textile surface design student — and that he had exhibited his artwork on Broadway.

He ran a successful bow tie making company and featured in NYU Local promoting his craft. In the story he described himself as “the most incredible person you will ever meet”.

But his blog suggests his troubles with women tipped him over the edge.

“Inform NYPD they could stop searching for me because I’m going to commit suicide,” he wrote on June 17. He has not been seen since.
