Netflix just nailed customer service instant chat

Video-on-demand service Netflix has a customer service department that is not only staffed by real, disceible human beings, but ones with a strong knowledge of Parks and Rec at that.

‘Instant chat' services are often a fast but frustrating method of solving a technical issue, hitting you with copy-paste responses and overly cheery sign-offs.

Netflix however has pitched it perfectly it seems, dispensing with stuffy professionalism and managing to charm the customer into wishing they had more problems that needed solving in the process (and later being so moved as to post the entire transcript to Reddit).

‘This is Cpt. Mike of the good ship Netflix, which member of the crew am I speaking with today?' the conversation starts, which at no point suggests reading a damn FAQ page.

It fits the brand, given that Netflix is all about doing things differently as is shown in its bold commissioning thus far and its plans to experiment with episode and series lengths.

It recently scored the first Emmy for a VOD show, which went to Kevin Spacey-starring political drama House of Cards.
