'My only friend is, like, my grandma': Why teens don't use Facebook anymore
Teens are turning off Facebook, and blogger Ruby Karp explains why.

IS THIS the beginning of the end for Facebook?

According to 13-year-old Ruby Karp, Facebook isn't \"trending\" anymore among her friends.

In a scathing blog post for Mashable, the New York teenager has declared why kids are tuing off the social networking site in droves.

Even though Ruby has her own account, none of her friends do.

\"I soon discovered that Facebook is useless without friends,\" she said. \"My only friend is, like, my grandma.\"

She and her friends were too young to have Facebook when she really wanted it - you have to be 13 to sign up for your own profile.

\"By the time we could have Facebooks, we were already obsessed with Instagram,\" she said.

\"Facebook was just this thing all our parents seemed to have.\"

With marketing pushes, changes to the timeline and a busy design, Ruby reckons there's just too much going on for kids to like Facebook anymore.

\"No offence, but when I'm looking through my News Feed I don't really care about Pantene's new product,\" she writes.

\"In the end, Facebook has been trying too hard. Teens hate it when people try too hard; it pushes them away.

\"It's like if my mum told me not to do something - I immediately need to do it.\"
