Murder Trial of Brunswick Man Daryl Keon Jones Ends in Hung Jury

BRUNSWICK, Ga. - A Glynn County judge has declared a mistrial in the murder trial of a Georgia man charged with a 17-month-old girl to death after the jury declared itself deadlocked.

Jurors told the judge Thursday they had acquitted Daryl Keon Jones on a charge of murder, but were deadlocked on additional charges of felony murder and first degree cruelty to children.

The mistrial means prosecutors could put Jones on trial again.

Jones was accused of killing Brianna Kichelle Hester last year. She was the daughter of Jones' live-in girlfriend.

Jones' lawyer, James Yancey Jr., told jurors that his client was the victim of a lying son and his vengeful mother.

Jones was released from custody in September to undergo dialysis treatment for failing kidneys.
