Mom back in jail after son's birth
Lisa Clark, who married a boy last year and gave birth to a boy last weekend, is back in jail.
Clark, 37, whose marriage to a 15-year-old made national headlines, gave birth Saturday to Skye Cobain Gonzalez, a sandy-haired child weighing 7 pounds, 9 ounces.
On Sunday, she recuperated at Northeast Georgial Medical Center. On Monday, she returned to the Hall County Detention Facility. Authorities declined to elaborate on what sort of jail arrangements had been made for her.
Clark is due back in court Feb. 24, when she is scheduled for arraignment on charges of child molestation, statutory rape and enticing a child for indecent purposes. She was scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning, but her weekend labor resulted in delay of her arraignment.
The baby, meanwhile, was doing well, said Dan Sammons, Clark's lawyer. "He's a cute little fellow," said Sammons.
One of Clark's friends volunteered to take temporary care of Skye while his mother is behind bars, Sammons said. He declined to elaborate.
Clark's husband also is in custody in Hall County after authorities brought him back from Ohio. Last month, the teenager, identified in court papers only as "A.S.G.," ran away from a state-run juvenile home where he was sent for violating probation, a sentence that stemmed from a burglary arrest last year.
Police arrested Clark on Wednesday after authorities determined that, contrary to her repeated denials, she had been communicating with her husband. They charged her with hindering the apprehension of an escaped child.
In the past, Clark had said she still hopes to make a life with the young groom once the baby is born. He has not seen the infant, said the teenager's grandmother, Judy Hayles.
