Meet the transgender couple who stayed together after they both had sex change operations

You would never guess there was anything unusual about this young couple from their picture – but their relationship was rather special.

Arin Andrews and Katie Hill were the first openly transgender teen couple in the U.S. and their unconventional love story gave hope to other trans young people all over.

The couple met in 2012 while going through gender transition, and fell in love.

Arin, now 19, and Katie, 21, posted videos documenting the highs and lows of their courtship and their transition, discussing the physical and emotional changes.

Sadly their relationship ended, but they feature in a new documentary in which they reveal they still have a special bond.

Their honest portrayal of their lives has gained them thousands of followers online who are inspired that they could find their soulmate too.

Katie said: ‘I don't think anyone unless they know our story would come to the conclusion that we're a trans man and a trans woman dating.

‘They would just see us as a boy and a girl dating.'

Arin said: ‘I've always loved women and liked women as a female because I've always deep down known that I was straight male.'

Katie tells the story: "All I saw was a handsome guy we're right for each other because we both had the same problems, and even are the same size, so we can even exchange our old clothes.". 
"We are very good about it and it is our secret, for no one realizes now, and the way we've always wanted to be seen ".
 
 
Arin, who is a high school student, is still under treatment testosterone injections to give the masculine form has longed for all his life, while Katie, who attends a school graduate, has completed treatment with female hormones that He helped develop natural breasts without silicon implants. 
An anonymous donor who was touched by her story donated $ 40,000 that he can perform surgery gender reassignment four days after his 18th birthday on May 16, 2012. 
 

Katie always felt and thought as a woman but kept it a secret, but just wanted to play with dolls, while the mother of Arin, Denise, encouraged him to participate, while a woman in fashion and feminine ballet, but in parallel followed his own vocations with her father Mitch: motocross and mountain triathlons, until his mother, at age eleven, she gave up, even though the family has not been able to put together the six thousand US dollars necessary to have surgery breast.

The couple are spreading their expertise to help raise awareness about transgender issues, and others like them do not feel so lonely, desperate, segregated and uninformed.
