Man with knife arrested at Buckingham Palace
POLICE have arrested a man with a knife who tried to enter Buckingham Palace in London.
The Metropolitan Police said the 44-year-old man was apprehended just before noon on Monday as he tried to enter through a palace gate.
Police said they found a knife when they searched the man and arrested him on suspicion of trespassing on a protected site and possession of an offensive weapon.
The force said the man is currently in custody at a London police station.
Buckingham Palace said the Queen was not in the building when the man tried to get in, but would make no further comment.
In September, police arrested two men over a suspected break-in at Buckingham Palace in what was considered a rare breach of royal security.
