Judge grants former DeKalb commissioner Elaine Boyer $25K bond

Former Commissioner Elaine Boyer was granted $25,000 bond after appearing in court for criminal charges accusing her of mail fraud conspiracy and wire fraud.

On Tuesday, Boyer's attoey said she will enter a guilty plea. According to reports, Boyer mishandled tax payer money, reportedly using some of that money for personal expenses.

Boyer, who had been in office for more than 20 years resigned from her post on Monday.

She did not address any investigations in her resignation letter.
Dekalb County state representative Mary Margaret Oliver who has known Boyer for decades says her political colleague was popular and trusted, among her constituents.

DeKalb interim CEO Lee May released the following statement Monday afteoon:

Recent news stories notwithstanding, Elaine Boyer has faithfully served the constituents of District 1 and DeKalb County for over 20 years. It is my sincere hope that her resignation will allow the healing process to begin and open the door for a new voice on the Board of Commissioners. I wish her the best.
