Jonathan James, 10, died after parents denied him water for wetting bed: cops
10-year-old Texas boy, Jonathan James (r.), died after being denied water by his parents, authorities say.

A Texas boy spent his final days in a living hell. Jonathan James, 10, died in July after his father and step-mother deprived him of water for five days in the midst of a 100+ degree heat wave, recently revealed documents show, according to The Dallas Moing News.

The torturous treatment was dealt out because the boy had wet his bed, the newspaper said.

Michael Ray James and Tina Alberson have been jailed in the Dallas County Death, charged with injury to a child, police said.

Ten-year-old Jonathan James was forced to stand in an un-air conditioned room by the window, his twin brother, Joseph, claims.

Police documents cited by the newspaper claim that on the night Jonathan died, he collapsed and hit his head on the floor.

"A child of his age would exhibit progressive symptoms of his dehydration, including complaining of thirst, progressively becoming lethargic, appearing dry (cracked lips, sunken eyes), mental status changes, decreased urine output and eventually shock/cardiac arrest," the documents said.

"He [Michael Ray James] could've stopped it," the boy's grandmother, Sue Shotwell, said, according to the paper. "What person in their right mind deprives anyone of water?”
